After a lot of swirling, sniffing, tasting and comparing, we here at Middle Ruddings, in conjunction with Grapevine, the Wine Company have had great fun choosing a selection of wines from around the world to complement our menu. 


Classic French wines sit side by side with boutique styles from Australia and South Africa, stylish Champagnes and top rosés from Chile.  Our choices are designed to offer our guests the opportunity to try some truly delicious wines at reasonable prices; to push their taste buds to experience new flavours and hopefully enjoy them as much as we did!

#1 Alandra Esorão Branco, Alentejo, Portugal 

Delicate lime and floral aromas on the nose, blossom into rich citrus and stonefruit flavours on the palate.

#2 Pinot Grigio Veneto Botter, Veneto, Italy

This wine is made entirely from Pinot Grigio grapes, Dry, crisp and refreshing

#3 Chablis Domaine Jean Manants Brocard, Burgundy, France

Steely dry white Burgundy, with fine minerally flavours and eleganty light acidity.  Classic young vibrant wine from a top maker.



#4 Veiga de Princesa Albarino , Rias Baixas, Spain

Hand harvested from low-yielding vines, this own-rooted Albarino from Rias Biaxas is a queen among Spanish wines; attractive savoury and stone fruit notes combine with wonderful weight and acidity to deliver a superbly crafted wine.

#5 Miguel Torres Santa Digna Sauvignon Blanc, Curico, Chile

Stunning deep Sauvignon with a long lasting flavour.  Flavours of Gooseberries and asparagus.  This wine is very good with fish dishes but will go with pork and most poultry- we love it!

#6 Le Grand Noir Chardonnay, France, Vin de Pays

Rich in colour & body with typical peachy Chardonnay fruit flavours & a luxurious silky smooth finish


#8 Lake Chalice Sauvignon Blanc, Marlborough, New Zealand

Voted as one of New Zealand's best sauvignons; well defined scents of gooseberry and nettles on the nose with beautiful grapefruity freshness and a delightful long finish.

#9 Fedele Cataratto Pinot grigio, Sicily

Theblending of these two grapes create enjoyable, everyday drinking wine that offers intense aromas of both citrus fruit and tropical fruit.Perfect with seafood or as an aperitif.

#10a Fontana Oveja Dry Muscat, Northern Castile, Spain

Located at an altitude of between 700 and 900m in Uclés, Northern Castile, the growing conditions are ideal for producing wines of great purity, freshness and varietal expressiveness.  Pale yellow in colour, this is an intensely aromatic wine with aromas of Muscat grapes and prange blossom.  The palate is light-bodied and fresh with a crisp acidity that makes it an ideal partner to seafood or to drink as an apéritif.

#11 Otega Biddenden , Kent, England

From England's olden vineyard; this otega grape varietal offers and off-dry style with distinctive fragrances and a vibrant acidity.  Serve slightly chilled as an aperitif or with food.

#12 Simon Hackett Brightview Chardonnay, McLaren Vale, Austrailia 

Virtually a perfect example of Chardonnay from Oz.  Skillful use of Oak aging makes it very approachable.  Finely balanced acidity, exotic fruit flavours and richness from all the sunshine!

#13  Juniper Crossing Semillon Sauvignon Blanc,  Margaret River, Australia

Light gold in colour, this lovely, fruity blend shows passionfruit, gooseberry, green apple and citrus on the nose.  The mouth-filling palate is smooth and very texural,full of juicy fruit, herb and spice and the finish is long and refreshing!

#15  Angel's Flight White Zinfandel Rose, California, USA

A highly quaffable light bodied wine crammed full of strawberry and cherry flavours.  Perfect for sharing witgh friends on the patio.

#16 Santa Digna Cabernet Sauvignon Rose, Curico, Chile

Delicate summer frutis, a fragrant floral wine full and fresh on the palate.

Luxurious blackberry flavours give away to nicely balanced tannins.  A good entry level wine to enjoy on it's own or with most red meats.

#19 Paparuda Pinot Noir, Transylvania and Banat, Romania

Soft and attractive wine with a beautifully ruby red colour and aromas of strawberries and raspberries.  Light to medium bodied with hints of spice and a lingering aftertaste. Delicious!

#20 Traluna Toscana Rosso, Tuscany, Italy

Produced from 97% Sangiovese, this is a beautiful wine! Hints of spice, dark berries and vanilla ooze from this balanced red wine.

A super smooth merlot, the perfect choice for red meats

#22 Rioja Vega Crianza, Rioja, Spain

Soft, fruity with delicious cherry,berry fruit, balanced with a hint of spice and a long finish.

#23 Miguel Torres Santa Digna Merlot, Curico, Chille

A merlot to die for!  The Chilean climate seems to gavour this grape variety.  Rich, deep and brooding, just begging a plate of roasted meats.

Bright ruby in colour, the low-yielding Graciano has intriguing aromas of wild flowers and ripe cherries on the nose. Medium-bodied with vibrant fruit

if there is one Bordeaux appellation where terroir truly matters, it is here.  A family run wine business in its 4th generation, they show a commitment and passion for wine making, using traditional and modern wine techniques.

#26 Bon Courage Robertson Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz, Robertson, South Africa

A sublime marriage of Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon resulting in silky tannins with layers of dark fruit and spice.  An excellent choice with steak, but works well on its own too! 



#27 Verosso Primitivo Salento IGT, Salento, Italy

An intense ruby-red colour, with a full and complex nose, this wine's incredibnle richness is due to the appassimento process whereby the grapes are dried on racks after picking to concentrate the flavours.  A soft and attractive red wine with the fruit sweetness to go well with game.  


#28  Aves del Sur Carmenere, Central valley, Chille

Chile's own grape varietal, Carmenere offers something a little different with aromas of wild black fruits, blackberries and dried prunes.  A punchy palate with plenty of spice and smokiness.  



#29 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Telegramme, Rhone, France

Younger brother to the world-famous Vieux Telegraphe, it is a beautifully constructed blend of Granache and Mourvedre from the domaine's younger vines.    The nose is characterised by a marvellous dusty softness, costed with raspberry fruit and spice, while the palate brims over with blackcurrant, chocolate and plums.  


#30 C.J. Pask Declaration merlot, Hawkes Bay, New Zealand

From the Giblett Road vineyards of Hawkes Bay, this wine was declared best Merlot 2006.  Deep purple with intense concentrated aromas of plum and spice with a sweet oak lift.  The palate shows an elegant, intense Merlot showing ripe fruits, with an intergrated oak hint, fine tannins and a weighty plum flavour.  A delectable partner to roasted vegtables and peppered red meats.  


#31  Bon Courage Inkara Shiraz,  Robertson, South Africa

Bon Courage has more accolades than any other winery in South Africa and with good reason.  Based in the Robertson region, this premium red comes from  single-vineyard, hand-picked grapes and offers a blend of red berry fruits with notes of coffee, chocolate and smoky oak.  Round and full, ripe and fresh, surrounded in silky yet subtle tannins with plenty of 'punch'.  The big brother to our Cab Sauv Shiraz (#21) and perfect with full flavoured roasts and rich sauces.

#32 Jean Pierre Marniquet Carte D'Or, Champagne, France

A classic, elegant wine, delicate,dry with a crisp flavour and a lemon fresh aroma.


#33 Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label, Champagne, France

There's a bottle of this opened somewhere, every minute in the world.  Consistently good; dry, biscuity and zesty. Made famous by the "Widow Clicquot".


#34 Prosecco Lucas botter, Veneto, Italy

An attractive biscuity nose leading onto a bright fruity palate with hints of pear and melon.  An excellent aperitif and very stylish.


#35 Prosecco T'iamo, Veneto, Italy (187ml individual bottle) 

Pale, light yellow, delicate and fruity.  A well balanced bottle with a light body- add a little sparkle! 


#36 Raboso Luscas Botter, Veneto, Italy

Pink prosecco!  A glass full of strawberries with excellent length- ideal for lazy afternoons! 


#37 Biddenden Sparkling wine, Champagne, France

A fine blend of Reichensteiner, Pinot Noir, Ortega and Scheurebe grapes.  A highly commended, off-dry English sparling wine with forward fruit flavours.
